What is Operation Homefront?

Operation Homefront is an effort driven by Lt. Governor Pat Quinn to create a resource library dedicated to the service men and women from the Land of Lincoln, their families, and the citizens and organizations that support them.

What We Do

Since the Global War on Terror began in 2001, more than 20,000 members of the lllinois National Guard and Reserves have been called up to active duty. Since taking office in 2003, Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn has worked to assist active duty service, reserve, and National Guard servciemembers, veterans and their families. The Lt. Governor has been acknowledged nationwide as a leader in creating model legislation and programs to assist active service members and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

CHICAGO - November 23, 2008.  Lt. Governor Pat Quinn, just days before Thanksgiving, presented "Homefront Hero Awards" to 18 groups and individuals for boosting the morale of our troops far from home during the holidays.

CHICAGO - November 17, 2008.  Lt. Governor Quinn joined with the host family of a Polish native and fallen servicemember Marine Private First Class Dawid Pietrek to honor and salute his service and dedication to our country, just hours before departing for Poland to present his mother with her son's Purple Heart.

Lt. Governor Quinn urges everyone to help reunite wounded heroes with their families by donating unused airline miles

CHICAGO - November 14, 2008. Lt. Governor Quinn urged everyone to remember our wounded heroes this holiday season by donating their unused frequent flier miles to Operation Hero Miles. Quinn also saluted all those who contributed Thanksgiving messages of gratitude for our troops overseas.

PONTOON BEACH - November 12, 2008. Lt. Governor Quinn rededicated a billboard in honor of fallen soldier from Granite City and recognize other fallen soldiers from across Illinois with white crosses around the billboard.
